Sue's Notes
July 2009
With so many people on holidays, summer is a great time to slow the work pace and take stock of how well your business is moving forward.
I did just that the first week of July. I scheduled one week of "holiday" time to take a hard look at where my business stands and what I need to do - and by when - to get to where I want it to be. And to make the plan work, I know I must schedule time each week to work ON my business - and stick to that schedule.
I recently had a business professional say she can't possibly update her Web site (which was desperately in need of a complete overhaul) because she works 80 hours a week and has no money or time to do it. She sounded desperate. Unfortunately, she has been in this position for more than a year as we had spoken about the same issues one year ago.
If this is happening to you, it's time to change. Why would anyone work that hard without earning money? Taking a hard look at your processes and the results takes time...but if you don't do it now, how will your business look one year from now?
So, schedule some time this week to check out your business well-being. And that doesn't mean it's the only "holiday" time you should take. For me, I've also booked off the first week of August - but this time it will be in a beautiful lake setting far away from telephones and computers.
