Sue's Notes

June 2010

One of the best things about being an entrepreneur is the flexibility to decide when and where you want to work. When I started my business in 1997, I loved being able to attend my kids’ school events and sports activities. I simply worked in the evening to make up for the time I took away from the office during the day…a perfect fit for my lifestyle.

Last week, I had the opportunity to once again go on a school trip…this time with my five-year-old grandson, Tyler. Yes, if you didn’t know, I’m Gramma to Tyler and Zachariah. Because of the rain, the outing was changed from Storybook Gardens to an indoor centre where we played mini golf and bowled. Along with another grandmother, we got to play with 4 children including our grandkids.

To be honest, I felt a bit old with all of the other young mom’s and dad’s – and understood how my parents must have felt years ago running after our kids. But when one child heard Tyler call me “Gramma,” he couldn’t figure out why as he looked from his grandmother to me…and I felt great. After all, we’re only as old as we feel. And at that moment, I had energy to spare!

As an entrepreneur, you control your time management. Don’t forget to schedule play time…you’ll return to the office re-energized and often with new ideas for your business growth.
