Sue's Notes
October 2009
I just got back from a late afternoon walk to clear my head. I feel that I have so many things going on - and so little time to get everything done - that a brisk walk was definitely called for.
The trees are in the early stages of changing colours - but they're calling for snow tonight! What happened to Fall? There is definitely a major chill in the air but struggling with two dogs on leashes
, I didn't have a lot of time to take in the scenery or the dropping temperatures (our son's Collie, Rex, is vacationing with us for 10 days, much to the chagrin of Franklin the cat and our Cocker Spaniel, Riley). But by the time we returned to the back yard, I felt energized. (And check out the beautiful cardinal awaiting our arrival.)
The walk was my wake up call...life is passing us by - quickly. There are so many things to do - but we can't forget to live in the moment and appreciate it. Thanksgiving was a reminder to give thanks for everything. Look for the bright side in every situation - even the red lights and daily annoyances.
When the Rebuilding the Dream event that was to take place this weekend was postponed until April, it was an opportunity to be thankful that I had a new workshop created (and I'm planning a special workshop to deliver that in January so stay tuned). When I find I'm working many late evenings, I am thankful that I have work to do. And when Rex missed his "parents" and had an accident (or two) on our carpeting, I gave thanks that I can now get new flooring.
What has been annoying you...and how can you turn it around to give thanks?
Write on...
